Forbes Names Double O ‘Small Giant’

Grand Rapids, Mich. — Forbes magazine recognized Grand Rapids’ specialty subcontractor Double O in its 2020 list of 25 “Small Giants.” The award applauds companies led by purpose-driven leaders who choose greatness over growth and prioritize their people.

“As America’s more than 30 million small businesses grapple with the effects of the global coronavirus pandemic, Forbes’ fifth annual Small Giants list highlights 25 privately owned companies whose commitment to greatness over fast growth has enabled them to best serve their customers, employees and communities, all while maintaining profitability,” Forbes says.

Double O earned the honor after Inc. magazine named it to its annual list of 5,000 fastest-growing privately-held companies in the U.S. for three consecutive years (2014-2016).

Double O ranks among the largest commercial glazing, window and door businesses in Michigan. It now employs 49 staff and earned $8.4 million in revenue in 2019. Forbes also notes that President Mike Otis provides transparent financial information to all of his employees, and that he renovated his most recent fabrication facility in the most economically challenged neighborhood in Grand Rapids to help revitalize the community.

“Commitment to employees and business growth are not mutually exclusive goals,” Otis said. “We find year after year that the more we invest in a diverse range of high-quality talent, the stronger Double O becomes.”

Double O is located at 1415 Division Ave. S.
